Saving Spalding Pets

I am part of a volunteer group of people dedicated to rescuing animals awaiting death by "gas chamber" methods. These are the animals at one such shelter, the Spalding county animal shelter in Griffin, GA.

BO6-587, 588 AND 599 SCHNAUZER/ROTTWEILER MIXES-OWNER SURRENDER-PTD-THIS FAMILY DIED IN THE GAS CHAMBER.

Only 6 months old and dumped at animal control...these poor babies are absolutely terrifed here. 2 of them resemble Rottie mixes and 1 of them has the wiry coat and beard of a Schnauzer (he is the one peeking out from the bottom). Please, someone save these babies and show them what life should be for a puppy. They are available NOW and their last day is listed as SEPTEMBER 13.

I cannot believe that in 2006, these gas chambers still exist. Shame on you!

How could they!! So young!! This is horrible! For ten over years I've been getting messages from Spalding volunteers and advocates pleading for rescue. TEN YEARS at least! When are they going to get rid of the inhumane gas chamber!! WHEN!!

I abhor the killing of these beautiful animals at all, but if it's going to be done, at the very least it should be humane. The argument that gassing costs less is absolute bull. Besides it's inexcusable to put an animal through such suffering. There really needs to be an organized movement to stop gassing...I read about one online fairly recently, but now I can't find the web site.
