Saving Spalding Pets

I am part of a volunteer group of people dedicated to rescuing animals awaiting death by "gas chamber" methods. These are the animals at one such shelter, the Spalding county animal shelter in Griffin, GA.

AO6-1521 BEAGLE-MAGGIE-OWNER SURRENDER-ADOPTED LOCALLY!

I was at the shelter when Maggie's owner was dropping her off. I asked why she was leaving her pet at a kill shelter, and she replied that she was tired of Maggie getting out of her fenced in yard..she had been doing it since she was a puppy and she didn't want to deal with it anymore. I begged her to take Maggie home, but she wouldn't budge. Poor Maggie...she is 3 years old and already SPAYED. And she is a sweetheart, too. She is available NOW and her last day is listed as JUNE 20.

Thank heaven she was adopted. If she had been killed, you should have sent the surrendering owner a postcard telling her so! It doesn't seem, however, she had much of a conscience or sense of responsibility toward Maggie. I hope this girl pup is happy in her new home.
