Saving Spalding Pets

I am part of a volunteer group of people dedicated to rescuing animals awaiting death by "gas chamber" methods. These are the animals at one such shelter, the Spalding county animal shelter in Griffin, GA.

This poor dog is terrified here. She is a 7 year old Spaniel mix, dumped at the shelter by her owner because he was moving to Minnesota. I didn't know they didn't allow dogs in Minnesota! It's hard to get to know this baby, because all she does is tremble and try to hide her face in the corner of her kennel. Her last day is listed as April 21.

Hi Kathryn, SHE HAS A HOME!!!!!! I adopted this little gem. I was at the shelter while you were trying to take her picture. I came back first thing the next morning and adopted her. Her name is Brook and she is a completely different dog from the dog in that picture, it breaks my heart to see the picture. Once we got home she opened up little by little. Brook is now a VERY happy dog who loves to play ball. I took her to the beach this weekend and she loved it. Funny that on the day she was to be put down she was playing on the beach at Jekyll!! She is making her new family extremely happy!!

Thanks for all you do

God bless you Kelly. So many great dogs, so few willing people. Have a great life with your new companion.
